2012 Nissan Juke – Crossover? Sports Car? You decide.

When you’re looking for a car there are some things that take hold of your fascination and won’t let go. That appears to have been the same fancy which struck buyers of the mini-crossover Nissan Juke.

The Juke has received favorable reviews from all corners. Maybe even more importantly the 2012 Nissan Juke sales numbers continue to impress in spite of the vehicles design and distinct features.

Some of the features for the 2012 Nissan Juke model include things like 1.6 liter Direct Injection Gasoline, 16 vale turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, and continuously variable valve timing control system on exhaust and intake. Some other features which come standard on the 2012 Nissan Juke include their signature Nissan Direct Injection System, Front Wheel Drive, Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission, 4-wheel ABS, brake assist, front independent strut suspension, rear torsion beam suspension, and electronic power steering.

Nissan Pathfinder Concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Though it’s technically a concept car, the Nissan Pathfinder Concept is about as production-ready as they come. It gives a good idea of what the redesigned Pathfinder will look like when it hits dealerships this fall.

Along with the Toyota 4Runner and Ford Explorer, the Pathfinder was one of the few remaining body-on-frame midsize SUVs in the U.S. market. Ford switched the Explorer to a car-based unibody architecture with its recent redesign, and Nissan follows suit with the Pathfinder Concept. Off-road and towing enthusiasts will likely bemoan the change, but a unibody platform’s advantages — better gas mileage and interior packaging — can’t be discounted when you consider that most SUV owners don’t venture off-road.

Nissan Posts 2013 Pathfinder teaser

DETROIT — The traditionally boxy Nissan Pathfinder is about to be replaced in model year 2013 by a much curvier model, judging from a teaser shot released Monday by Nissan. The 2013 Pathfinder will be previewed as a concept at the upcoming 2012 Detroit Auto Show and is slated to go on sale next fall.

Nissan says the new model “takes all of Pathfinder’s traditional SUV hallmarks and wraps them in a new platform and dramatic new aerodynamic body.”

The 2013 Pathfinder will seat up to seven, with “ample cargo room,” according to Nissan.

The current Pathfinder went on sale in model year 2005. By the time the fourth-generation model arrives next fall at U.S. dealers, the current design will have been in production for eight years.

Nissan Offers Employee Pricing and Delayed Payments to Southern Storm Victims

Nissan Americas is offering employee pricing and delayed finance payments to victims of the recent tornadoes and floods across the southeastern U.S. The latest gesture comes after the company donated $115,000 to the Red Cross to help with the relief efforts.

Qualified buyers, meaning those from the southeast who were left without a mode of transportation after the storms, will be offered Nissans at a price normally reserved for company workers and their immediate families. To be eligible for the program, you have to live in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi or Alabama and be able to provide proof of damage to your primary vehicle. Check out Nissan’s full press release after the jump.

Some Nissan Juke Owners to Receive a $400 Check in the Mail

The Nissan Juke is offered in two different drivetrain flavors: front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. When marketing the Juke early on, Nissan listed the gas tank capacity at 13.2-gallons. That’s true… for the front-wheel-drive model, however, the all-wheel-drive Juke has a smaller 11.6-gallon tank. Nissan caught the error and corrected it, but not before approximately 4,000 Juke owners purchased the all-wheel-drive Juke and assumed they had the larger tank.

Not content to simply issue an all-encompassing apology, Nissan is sending out letters to each one of those 4,000 Juke owners (out of the 22,000 folks who have so far purchased a Juke). But there is more than just a letter inside the envelope. Nissan is also including a check for $400. Head over to ConsumerSearch.com to read the letter that Nissan sent, then feel free sound off in the ‘Comments’ regarding the 400 bones.

Do you think this is a cool move by Nissan or would you still be upset as a Juke owner?

Nissan Leaf Nismo RC on track

Nissan Leaf Nismo RC Gets On-Track Shakedown

Nissan has yet to figure out exactly where the company will campaign its new Leaf RC racer, but that hasn’t stopped the engineers behind the Japanese automaker’s Nismo effort from getting the machine out on track for a little shake-down action.

With its sexy carbon fiber bodywork, three-door layout and silent electric drivetrain, the car looks plenty sinister in its element. And while the vehicle’s new skin is both longer and wider than the street-going Leaf, the race car uses the same drivetrain as what’s whirring around on public streets right now, though it’s worth noting that everything has been shifted closer to the passenger cell to improve weight balance.

Nissan says that ideally, the company would eventually like to replace traditional ICE racing with EVs and that it would also like to branch out into other forms of motorsports that have never been explored. Those include city races where typical race cars are too loud to compete and indoor events where a zero-emission vehicle could truly shine.

Nissan NV200 Taxi

Nissan Wins Bid to be Next New York City Taxi

New York is “hailing” a new era of urban mobility today, as the city with the nation’s largest taxi fleet has selected Nissan to design and supply the next-generation “Taxi of Tomorrow.” The announcements were made today during a City Hall press briefing that included Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Nissan Americas Chairman Carlos Tavares.

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) selected the Nissan NV200 as the exclusive taxi of New York City beginning in late 2013. The award comes after a rigorous selection process that occurred over more than two years. The competition built upon more than a century of taxi industry heritage to drive the design and creation of a purpose-built vehicle, tuned to the city’s streets. The other two finalists included Ford Motor Co. and Karsan, a Turkish vehicle manufacturer. Continue reading “Nissan Wins Bid to be Next New York City Taxi” »

2011 Nissan Quest SL First Drive

While we wouldn’t call it a clean-sheet redesign, the 2011 Nissan Quest certainly looks like it’s all new. The polarizing styling of the previous Quest didn’t do it any favors, though, so this time around Nissan went with more traditional styling while the rest of the product development team concentrated on how to best serve the needs of young families.

Offered in base S, SV, SL and top-level LE models, ranging in price from $28,550-$42,150, the Quest offers features like Bluetooth connectivity, a DVD player and hard-drive music server/navigation, plus a few elements that will have the folks at Honda and Toyota muttering.

How about one-touch power-sliding doors? Or a hatch that doesn’t even require you to tug on a handle? Maybe an intelligent key that operates door locks and ignition? Oh, and it doesn’t drive half bad either.

The New Facade
The Quest’s bold grille and thick front bumper seem to mimic those of its competitors, even as they blend into the sculpted side of the minivan. While there are seven colors with which buyers can differentiate their family hauler, apparently, there’s only so much style even the best team can apply to the shape of a boxy minivan — and look what happened the last time Nissan tried to think outside the box with the Quest in 2004.

2011 Nissan Juke Full Test

From the Group B-esque headlights to its comically swollen wheel arches and taillights that could have been pilfered from a 370Z, the 2011 Nissan Juke throws together a bizarre mishmash of styling cues. You keep staring at the thing trying to get your head around it, but the Juke is defiantly head-wraparound-proof. It’s funky. It’s ugly. It’s funkly.

It’s smaller than you think, too. Photos suggest that the Juke is a beefy sport-ute about the size of a Kia Borrego or a Toyota Land Cruiser. Nope. It’s a pint-size thing that rides on the same platform as the Nissan Cube and Versa.

But the Juke has a whole lot more personality than those cars, and we mean that in the best way possible. Those flamboyant visuals aren’t all bluster — the Juke delivers a fun-to-drive exponent beyond its plebeian roots.
